Gifted and Talented Program

 Barrington School District Gifted and Talented Program: A.I.M.

New Jersey Administrative Code 6A:8-3.1 defines students who are gifted and talented as:

"Gifted and talented students" means students who possess or demonstrate high levels of ability in one or more content areas when compared to their chronological peers in the local school district and who require modifications of their educational program if they are to achieve in accordance with their capabilities.

The Gifted and Talented Program is open to students in grades K through 8.  The selection process is made up of two phases with each phase using multiple measures.

If a parent/guardian has a complaint/concern regarding the Gifted and Talented programming, a complaint procedure will be utilized to address the concern.

  1. The complainant will submit to the building principal, in writing, their specific concern.

  2. The complainant will include their name, address, contact information, and specific facts on which the complaint is based.

  3. The building principal will notify the Gifted and Talented teacher as well as the Director of Curriculum and work to address the complaint. This process may include a review of the student profile and parent meeting.

Gifted and Talented testing can take place at any point in the school year.
 
*New students who have been identified as gifted and talented in their former district will have to meet the outlined criteria to enter the program.*
