Common Core to New Jersey Student Learning Standards
In 2016, New Jersey moved from the Common Core Standards to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.  These standards were written by a team of parents, teachers, administrators, supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure our students are prepared for college and career success.  The standards are very similar to the Common Core Standards, however some terminology has been added to ensure educators and parents are able to clearly identify the expectation of each standard.  Because of the similarity of the two, curriculum and assessments are not required to be changed and there is no negative impact for students.

The elementary schools must be prepared to implement the NGSS with the opening of the 2017 – 2018 academic year. The NGSS provides a focus across three dimensions: Science and Engineering Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Disciplinary Core Ideas.
